Who We Are

Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church is part of the The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), the largest conservative Calvinist denomination in the United States. The PCA is Reformed in theology and Presbyterian in Government. Go Deeper.

We are a joyful, caring community of Gospel-centered believers who are committed to living with grace, love and purpose.

Everything we do is rooted in the good news of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. Understanding our place and purpose within God’s story is the first step in living a Gospel-centered life: experiencing His grace, walking in His peace, and sharing His love with others.

What We Believe

We believe that the BIBLE is the inerrant, inspired Word of God – our only rule of faith and life. SCRIPTURE plus anything else equals truth mixed with error. Scripture is God’s Word speaking to us, living and active. Scripture alone can reach the human heart. It is all we need to learn about God and teach others about Him.

We believe that we are saved through faith alone in Christ by GRACE alone. Salvation is an unmerited gift and our own works contribute nothing. It is free because our God is loving and merciful. He loved us more than we can imagine, and He pursued and rescued us from sin, in spite of the fact that we were running from Him.

We believe that we are justified –declared to be right with God– by His righteousness and grace through FAITH alone. Having a firm belief and trust in God is the only way we can receive all His blessings. Faith itself, is a gift from God.

We believe that God gave the ultimate revelation of Himself by sending Jesus to the world. We believe Jesus is the CHRIST, the one and only eternal son of God who atoned for our sins by His death on the cross. Our salvation comes through CHRIST alone, and all that was necessary for it was accomplished by Christ.

We believe that the purpose of all life is to give GLORY TO GOD ALONE. God is the only one worthy of glory and all glory is His. We are not the center of things. God is. God’s glory is our motivation for salvation, not improving the lives of people – which is a wonderful by-product! God is not a means to an end. He is the means and the end!
